Initial presentation
My original idea... Why didn't I stick with it!!?

These were my initial thoughts on this project.
If I'm honest I should have stuck with this original idea, (my tutors agree!) however I became stuck trying to wrap up the story and as a result diverted to portraying a visual representation of the original text.
This first idea, was to have Samson as a boxer, who takes down his opponants i the ring. No bloodshed or killing. (This is how things change with the times!)
The King of the Philistine is Don King. (Perfectly cast in my opinion)
The Nazarite title is a contract, involving Hair gel or products that cannot be used with alcohol.
I had a lot of things figured out, but in the end I was struggling to keep ther story in there without totally losing the audience.
This is why I produced my final body of work as a representation of the text.
This would be the first piece of work I would RE-DO.
Working out visuals...
My version
Now the story has many deeper connotations within the Christian faith, such as what happens after, and how Samson will be resurrected as he is actually a metaphor for Jesus.
This is all very well, but is not how I want to portray the story.
If you are presenting a story to a person who has no interest in that side of it, it is of no use!
I wanted to take the positives from the story and relate them to people so they would have a good outcome from reading or looking at the graphic device.

The Story of Samson... (in a nutshell)
The story of SAMSON in a nutshell:
Before Samson is born, his parent are visited by a messenger from God.
The messenger tells them they are to expect a boy. This boy is in a covenant with God. The official term for a person in this pact is a NAZARITE.
The terms of this pact are that Samson will have the strength of God on his side, making him stronger than all men.
However, to keep the pact he must show his devotion to God by never cutting his hair or drinking any alcohol.
As Samson grows up, he is a good boy, but when he starts getting interested in women that is where his troubles begin.
His people have succumbed to worshipping false idols and as a result, God has let the war-like neighbouring tribe (Phillistines) invade their lands. Samson's destiny is to free his people and deliver them from their oppressors.
He falls in love with a Phillistine woman.
On his way to ask her father for her hand in marraige, he is attacked by a lion, that he kills very easily. He says nothing of this to anyone.
On his way back from asking (to which he has been granted her hand) he passes the lions corpse and notices that bees have set up a nest inside it and have made honey! Again he tells no-one of this.
At the wedding feast, the arrogant Phillistine men are all around. Samson challenges them to a riddle:
"Out of the eater came forth meat. And out of the strong came forth sweetness."
He says if he does not get the correct answer within 3 days, that they should give him 30 sheets and 30 changes of garments.
The men struggle but thy cannot find the answer. Eventually they threaten Samson's wife, that they will burn her and her father in their home if they do not get the answer. She succumbs and finds out.
When he is told the answer he flies into a rage, killing 30 men geting their things and giving them to the men. He then turns his back on his wife and goes back to his father's house.
When he returns he finds the father has married off his daughter to another man!
In his rage he catches some foxes and ties burning rags to their tails before releasing them on the Philistine fields, destroying their crops.
With their fields and harvest destroyed, the Philistines take revenge on the father and daughter, by burning them alive in their home anyway!
When Samson discovers this he kills hordes of Philistines, with an Ass' jaw bone.
Eventually he finds a new Philistine woman, Delila, who has been secretly bought by the king of the Philistines to find out the secret of Samson's strength.
After testing him, she uses her womanly charm to get the right answer and shaves his head.
Now a normal man, he is easily captured and blinded, before being thrown into a dungeon.
As he understands his tragedy he rrpents to God, who grants him a second chance. His hair and strength grow back, and when he is presented as a spectacle at the temple of the Philistines, where almost all their highest ranking are having a celebration, he tumbles the pillars holding him, killing himself and more Philistines then he had ever killed before.
This allowed his people to take back their land and for him to regain his pact with the Lord.

Second New Project!
Ok! This is my second last project.
We were allowed to create our own brief!
Mine is below. Even though I really enjoyed this project, I don't think I answered what I set out to do...
My brief was to produce a piecce of EITHER ambient media, OR print to reach out to the people of Stratford in a non-confrontational way, to try and deliver the message of God.
Despite the criticism I recieved, I still went ahead.
My idea was to produce a graphic interpretation of people's favorite stories from the Bible. The reason for this, is that it is throught the stories that people relate and listen much more keenly.
As I wanted to reach out to the youth especially, I made the graphic device as a Graphic Novel / comic book.
This was the first attempt I have had at making a serious go at this, and I could never have predicted how hard it is!!
TO ALL THE GRAPHIC NOVELISTS OUT THERE... I SALUTE YOU!

THIS IS NOT MY WORK... but it's amazing!

The top piece is in Brighton, opposite a spray paint shop, and is so incredible you find yourself looking for ages... the fact that it uses the perspective of the building and incorperates it into the piece, making it 3-d is something I have not seen anywhere else. It is a fun image depicting a barber, who is questioning whether (accidentally or not) the stripe he has just shaved looks good. There is the hiphop influence for the graf, with the stripe in the shape of an arrow, that is usually only present with graffitti writing. There is also an insane amount of minute detail, which draws the viewer in for much longer than expected. What strikes me so much about this piece is the concept combined with the aesthetic quality. It is simply brilliant. Who created it???
The second piece was my favorite in Leeds. I loved the calm mural style of the decoration and the design of the face. It is a personal pose as a reaction to some comment, look or message. I just love how it draws me in and remains balanced throughout. Beautiful.
Retrospect on my previous illustrating style...
Card Designs!

I love to make cards!
These are some cards I made for my friends:
1. This was a birthday card for my mate (inspired by his t-shirt I think...)
2. This was a christmas card I did for all my male mates in Leeds one year (the girls had a picute of Arnie flexing, but I can't find the image).
3. This was a christmas card for a good mate of mine. He is obsessed with the gym... however he eats Nutella like Winnie the Pooh eats 'hunny'....
Some of my stencils...
I LOVE TO STENCIL!!!
These are some of my pieces, generally done for friends as presents as it makes me work work a lot harder at them!
From the top:
1. This was originally a present and then I included it at the 'GENTRIFY THIS' Banksy exhibit behind Waterloo station. Apsolutely amazing day!!!
2. This was a commission piece for my room mate. Thats what he wanted!
3. This was a present for a former flame.
4. This was a present for my mate (he's in a punk band).
5. This was a present for my former house mate, with all of the other house mates. Probably some of the best memories of my life in that house.
